AURORA -- Bessie McLain, 97, of Marionville died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at Aurora. McLain was born Aug. 20, 1899, at Bloomfield, the daughter of Edgar and Lydia Sifford Chasteen. She and Arthur Skelton were married. He preceded her in death in 1958. She later married H.A. Morlan and he preceded her in death in 1973...

AURORA -- Bessie McLain, 97, of Marionville died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at Aurora.

McLain was born Aug. 20, 1899, at Bloomfield, the daughter of Edgar and Lydia Sifford Chasteen. She and Arthur Skelton were married. He preceded her in death in 1958. She later married H.A. Morlan and he preceded her in death in 1973.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield.

Survivors include one son, Bill Skelton of Marionville; one sister, Clara Hill of Dexter; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons.

Friends may call at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Greg Greason will officiate with burial to follow in the Liberty Cemetery near Bloomfield.
