EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Bessie M. Johnson of East Prairie was held Saturday at Shelby Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dave Bowden officiated, with burial in Mounds Park Cemetery near New Madrid.

Johnson, 91, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1993, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

He was born July 8, 1901, in St. Louis, daughter of William and Margaret Sparks McMillin. She married Amos Johnson in 1941, who died Aug. 5, 1969.

Johnson was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include two nieces, Carol Miller of East Prairie, Margaret Kavanagh of New Haven, and a nephew, William McMillin of St. Louis.
