CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A memorial service for Mrs. Bessie Cleland of Liberty will be held at 4 p.m. today at Second Baptist Church there. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery
Mrs. Cleland, 85 years old, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 1991, at Liberty Hospital.
A native of Golden City, she was a graduate of Southwest Baptist College at Bolivar, and attended Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and William Jewell College. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
She married Dr. L.W. Cleland, who preceded her in death. He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Cape from 1949-59.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy McClain of Liberty, Margaret Rasche of Cape; six grandsons, and five great-grandchildren.
