SIKESTON -- Bertie Mae Massey, 80, of Sikeston died Friday, June 30, 1995, at the Miner Nursing Home.
She was born April 7, 1915, in Sycamore to Milo and Mellie Warren Carter. On Sept. 13, 1936, she married Thomas "Edd" Massey.
Massey had worked for the International Shoe Co. and attended Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Billy Wayne Massey of Lutesville, Gene Massey and Don Massey of Sikeston, Eddie Massey of Canon, Ga., and Jimmy Massey of Scott, Ark.; a daughter, Dorothy Stroud of Wappapello; three brothers, Loyd Carter of Pine Bluff, Ark., Troy Carter of Warrenton and Buddy Carter of West Plains; four sisters, Bertha Ridge of Paragould, Ark., Marie Sanders of West Plains, Edna Newton of Kansas City and Marguarite Strange of Denver; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James "Jack" Fields, and four brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Adams officiating and the Rev. W.H. Newman assisting. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
