BERTRAND -- Bertie Chaney, 80, of Osage Beach, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the University Hospital in Columbia. She was born April 9, 1918, in Bertrand, daughter of Jesse and Daisy Williams Hurley. She had lived in Osage Beach for the past two years, moving from Sikeston. She was formerly of East Prairie. BERTRAND -- Bertie Chaney, 80, of Osage Beach, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the University Hospital in Columbia.

She was born April 9, 1918, in Bertrand, daughter of Jesse and Daisy Williams Hurley.

She had lived in Osage Beach for the past two years, moving from Sikeston. She was formerly of East Prairie. She was a member of the Church of God in Osage Beach.

On Oct. 5, 1940, she married Carl P. Chaney, who preceded her in death April 24, 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence Chaney of Bertrand, and Carl Chaney Jr. of Sikeston; one daughter, Carla Sickal of Osage Beach; one sister, Ola Berry of Bertrand; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One son and one daughter preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Shelby Chapel with Jim Eskew, pastor of the Church of God in Bertrand, officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
