BERNIE, Mo. -- Bertha Lea Mayberry, 88, was born in Bernie on Oct. 3, 1926, to the late Tommy Davis and Edna Mable Riddle Davis and departed this life Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Malden, Missouri.
Mrs. Mayberry had been a custodian at Cape Girardeau public schools until her retirement. She was a homemaker and a resident of Bernie.
She was united in marriage to Leonard Allen Mayberry on Feb. 7, 1942, in Bloomfield, Missouri. Mr. Mayberry preceded her in death April 25, 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas J. Mayberry of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Allen R. Mayberry of Yucca Valley, California; one daughter, Helen Owens of Bernie; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating. Interment will follow.
Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
