DONGOLA, Ill. -- Bertha Edith Lingle, 97, of Chicago, formerly of Dongola, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at St. Theresa Hospital in Waukegan. She was born Feb. 4, 1901, in Cypress, daughter of Henry and Sarah Adams Beggs. She and Lester Lingle were married Sept. 13, 1919. He died Nov. 5, 1964...

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Bertha Edith Lingle, 97, of Chicago, formerly of Dongola, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at St. Theresa Hospital in Waukegan.

She was born Feb. 4, 1901, in Cypress, daughter of Henry and Sarah Adams Beggs. She and Lester Lingle were married Sept. 13, 1919. He died Nov. 5, 1964.

Survivors include a son, Lealeen Lingle of Dongola; three daughters, Bonnie Miles of Wood River, Sarah Eppers of Waukegan, Virginia Russell of Gurnee; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Cypress.
