Funeral for Bertha Marie James of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. Jim Caughlan and Ernest Jordan will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the chapel from noon to service time.
James, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Jackson, daughter of John and Bertha Graden Ade. She and Joe D. James Sr. were married Oct. 5, 1934, in Jackson. He died Jan. 4, 1982.
James was a secretary many years at James Wrecker Service, a family business. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and sang in the choir many years.
She was a charter member of Sweet Adelines and Rodney Vista Homemakers Club, and had been a member of Capaha Antique Car Club.
Survivors include two sons, Joe James Jr. and John James of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
