MOUNDS, Ill. -- Bertha Jane Green, 71, of Mounds died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.
She was born June 1, 1937, in Mounds, daughter of Marcus and Nancy Watkins Rogers Sr. She and Freddie Lee Green Sr. were married Aug. 29, 1981.
Green was a member of Church of God in Son and its choir and a missionary of the church.
Survivors include her husband; nine sons, Dave Reed of Oklahoma, James Reed, Freddie Green Jr., Charles and Michael Green of Mounds, Larry Reed of Cape Girardeau, Lamarr Reed of St. Louis, Eddie Green of North Carolina, Nathan Green of Mississippi; six daughters, Cynthia Paul and Lawanda Green of Mounds, Teresa Johnson and Mary Green-Brown of Cape Girardeau, Stephanie Green of Carbondale, Ill., and Clarissa Merriweather of Tamms, Ill.
Also two brothers, James Rogers Sr. of St. Louis, Marcus Rogers Jr. of Detroit; two sisters, Selena Dickerson and Susie Hines of Mounds; 61 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be from noon to service time Saturday at Church of God in Son.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Sue Terry officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Memorial Park in Mounds.
Massie Funeral Home in Mounds is in charge of arrangements.
