Gentry, 97, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at Gietner Home in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 27, 1899, in Sikeston, son of William Harvey and Hattie Gentry. He and Dorothy J. Waters were married Sept. 30, 1925, in Morley. She died Sept. 15, 1994.

Gentry had been a truck driver for Sikeston Dry Cleaners and Laundry, and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Edward Gentry of St. Louis; two daughters, Jacqueline Wyrick of St. Louis, Ann Dumay of Leawood, Kan.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
