Bernie Sims, 87, of Jackson died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Monticello House. He was born Nov. 16, 1915, at Steele, Mo., son of B.H. and Cora Ellis Sims. He and Lena Irene Johnson were married Nov. 30, 1933, at New Madrid, Mo. Sims lived in Anniston, Mo., most of his life. He was a retired self-employed contractor. He was a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge and Anniston Christian Church, and former member of East Prairie Lions Club...

Bernie Sims, 87, of Jackson died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Monticello House.

He was born Nov. 16, 1915, at Steele, Mo., son of B.H. and Cora Ellis Sims. He and Lena Irene Johnson were married Nov. 30, 1933, at New Madrid, Mo.

Sims lived in Anniston, Mo., most of his life. He was a retired self-employed contractor. He was a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge and Anniston Christian Church, and former member of East Prairie Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Sims of Mesa, Ariz., Randy Sims of East Prairie, Mo.; four daughters, Jackie Baker of Marion, Ill., Ginger Riehn of Oak Ridge, Beverly Tidwell of Bloomington, Ill., Cherie Abner of Brunswick, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Mo., after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. Martin Lucas will officiate.
