Future archaeologists enjoyed the dig pit station at Southeast Missouri State University's museum yesterday combining the use of ordinary kitchen tools and those an archaeologist uses to uncover their special finds. CAIRO, Ill. -- Bernice Ward, 94, of Cairo died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.

She was born Sept. 14, 1908, at Colbert County, Ala., daughter of Abe and Millie Goodloe.

Survivors include two daughters, JoWanna Ward Mathis and Amanda Ward, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Abraham Ward of Anna, Ill.; three sisters, Ella Goodloe of Florence, Ala., Millie Goodloe and Mildred Thompson, both of Cherokee, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
