CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Bernice Stewart of Charleston was held Monday at the United Methodist Church. The Revs. Richard Combs and Robert Burke officiated, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.

McMikle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Stewart, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 11, 1898, in Anniston, daughter of Matthew and Frances Mae Berry Hicks. She married Ellis Stewart Jan. 15, 1916. He died Dec. 22, 1965.

Stewart was a member of United Methodist Church, was active in its United Methodist Women, Chancel Choir, Builders Sunday School Class, and taught children's Sunday School classes many years. She was a member of Katherine Boone Music Club, Athena Club, Charleston Community Choir, and had been an auxiliary volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center 29 years.

Survivors include two nieces, Jean Blechle of Cape Girardeau, Linda McCloudy of Bakersfield, Calif., and a nephew, Glenwood Blechle of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
