MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Maudie Bernice Lewis, 80, of Marble Hill died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 15, 1927, at Steele, Mo., daughter of Jim and Melvina Wright Mathenia. She and Roy Oscar Lewis were married Jan. 15, 1945.
Lewis was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Marble Hill and Eastern Star in Portageville and Sikeston, Mo.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Harry Lewis of Nixa, Mo.; a daughter, Bernita Bell-Parker of Marble Hill; two brothers, Harold Mathenia of Steele, Alvin Mathenia of Flint, Mich.; a sister, Mary Hockaday of Nashville, Ark.; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. An Eastern Star service will be at 7.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Sowers officiating. Burial will be in Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn, Mo.
