EAST CARONDELET, Ill. -- Bernard K. "Barney" Uhrhan, 79, of East Carondelet died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
He was born March 12, 1927, in Fornfelt, Mo., son of Philip and Katie Felter Uhrhan. He and Dorine Enderle Uhrhan were married.
Uhrhan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo, Ill. He was a retired switchman from Cotton Belt Railroad with 41 years of service. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Uhrhan was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joanna (Ron) Mentel of Belleville, Ill.; two sons, Rick (Cheryl) Uhrhan of Columbia, Ill., Dave (Becky) Uhrhan of Dupo; a sister, Clara Mae (Curtis) Moore; a brother, Vincent Uhrhan; her grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Mentel, Sarah (John Biermann) Mentel, Greg, Mark, Dan Uhrhan, Mandy (Andrew Evers) Uhrhan and Tim Uhrhan; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Bria, Keira Mentel; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Catherine Uhrhan.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dashner Funeral Home in Dupo. There will be a prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation continues from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo with Fr. Paul Wienhoff officiating.
Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis with full military honors.
