PERRYVILLE -- Bernard Raymond Comte, 90, formerly of Perryville, died Friday, June 20, 1997, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield. He was born Dec. 13, 1906, in Perry County, son of Joseph and Ora Thorpe Comte. He and Rosalia F. Klump were married Nov. 22, 1947, in Perryville. She died Nov. 6, 1984...

PERRYVILLE -- Bernard Raymond Comte, 90, formerly of Perryville, died Friday, June 20, 1997, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield.

He was born Dec. 13, 1906, in Perry County, son of Joseph and Ora Thorpe Comte. He and Rosalia F. Klump were married Nov. 22, 1947, in Perryville. She died Nov. 6, 1984.

Comte retired as a tool and die maker with McDonnell Douglas. He was a 4th Degree with Knights of Columbus.

A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a tank commander under General George Patton, and served at the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Powell of Washington, Mo., Deanna Harmer of Florissant; three sisters, Zita Barnes of Arnold, Ill., Rachel Hagan of Ste. Genevieve, Marie Counts of Perryville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30-10:50 a.m. A parish wake and KC service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerard Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
