Joseph "Ben" Rudert, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 27, 1918, in Shawneetown, son of Adolf and Pauline Ladreiter Rudert. He and Wilma Meta Meyr were married May 16, 1948, at Pocahontas. She passed away June 22, 2000.
Rudert was a veteran of World War II, having been inducted into the U.S. Army Feb. 15, 1942. He was honorably discharged Oct. 13, 1945.
Ben was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and a member of American Legion Post 63 more than 60 years. He was an electric foreman with the former Missouri Utilities Co. 35 years.
Loving survivors include a brother, Raymond Rudert of Perryville; a sister, Gertrude Mirly of Cape Girardeau; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hugo and Edward Rudert; and a sister, Selma Wild.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. A military honors service will be held, along with the committal, immediately following at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
