Ben Medlock, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 15, 1993, at Cape Girardeau Care Center.
He was born Nov. 30, 1903, at Neely's Landing, son of Willard and Minerva Walker Medlock. On April 8, 1925, he married Pearl Hodge.
He was a farmer in the Delta, Leemon and Oriole communities, retiring in 1980. He's a former member and treasurer of the school board at Delta and was a member of Delta Baptist Church.
He also was instrumental in determining the location for Trail of Tears State Park, north of Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Burl Medlock of Cape Girardeau, Ron Medlock of Gordonville; a daughter, Earlene Curry of Delta; two sisters, Maud Gohn and Hester Morton of rural Jackson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three sons, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Don Slatton will officiate, with burial in New Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Pocahontas.
