CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Benjamin Thomas "Ben" Hopper, 17, of Charleston died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Charleston. He was born April 5, 1983, at Chaffee, Mo., son of Tammy Hopper. Hopper lived in Charleston all his life. He was a senior at Charleston High School, where he was a member of marching and jazz bands, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, played on the tennis team three years, was manager of the girls softball team, and had been named to "Who's Who of American High Schools."...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Benjamin Thomas "Ben" Hopper, 17, of Charleston died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Charleston.

He was born April 5, 1983, at Chaffee, Mo., son of Tammy Hopper.

Hopper lived in Charleston all his life. He was a senior at Charleston High School, where he was a member of marching and jazz bands, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, played on the tennis team three years, was manager of the girls softball team, and had been named to "Who's Who of American High Schools."

Survivors include his mother of Charleston; and maternal grandparents, Chester and Helen Hopper of Charleston.

He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today, and at First Baptist Church after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Gerald Penn and Bob Herring officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
