EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Bedford P. Bailey, 93, of East Prairie died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 10, 1906, near Murray, Ky., son of James H. and Mary Ann McKinney Bailey.
He had lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he worked as a self-employed painter. He and Edna L. Dickerson were married Nov. 19, 1951. She died May 11, 1992.
He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in East Prairie and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post in Dexter, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, James Bailey of East Prairie and Steven Bailey of Sikeston, Mo.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie, where the D.A.V. Chapter of Dexter will conduct military honors at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. James Bolden officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
