LEOPOLD -- Basil A. Barks, 79, of Leopold died Friday, Jan. 6, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 10, 1915, at Scopus, the son of Edwards and Sarah Stevens Barks.
On Aug. 14, 1936, he married the former Fern Grindstaff. She died Nov. 16, 1986.
He married the former Addie Winchester on Aug. 27, 1988. She survives.
He is also survived by four daughters, Judy Barks of Arnold, Joyce Korn of St. Ann, Janet Dalton of Whitewater, and Wanda Ramsey of Puxico; one stepdaughter, Jeffrey Adams of Marble Hill; one brother, Wendell Barks of Jackson; two sisters, Mae McMullen of Marble Hill and Ola Schreiner of Jackson; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, two sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.
He was a farmer and a member and deacon of Barks Chapel General Baptist Church. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 417 of Whitewater.
Friends may call today after 4 p.m. at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Revs. Arvil Huffman and Aaron Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
