MATTHEWS -- Barbara M. Cockrum Smith, 54, of Matthews and formerly of Mississippi County, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Oct. 20, 1944, in Charleston to Mary Frances Stallings and Robert Franklin Marshall.
She married Lester L. Cockrum Dec. 9, 1965. He died June 22, 1974. She married Carl Smith August 1987. He died Nov. 13, 1998
She lived in Mississippi County most of her life where she was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her mother; two sons, Lester "Bud" Cockrum of Charleston and James Bradley of Sikeston; a daughter, Diane Cockrum of Sikeston; a brother, William Marshall of Sikeston; three sisters, Hazel Morris of Charleston, Mary Busoman of St. Charles and Anna Tanner of Savannah, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral will be 1:30 Monday at McMikle Chapel, with Monsignor Bill Stanton officiating. Burial will in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
