Barbara Jean Peetz, 89, of Jackson passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was lovingly known as Barbara Jean, Barb, Aunt Jean, Grandma and Peetzy. Barbara Jean Peetz, 89, of Jackson passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was lovingly known as Barbara Jean, Barb, Aunt Jean, Grandma and Peetzy.

She was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Jackson to Otto and Barbarra Stimel Friedrich. She and Marvin Peetz were married May 23, 1951, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.

Barb was a graduate of Jackson High School and a lifelong member of Emmanuel Church. She worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill. When Marvin became employed with Missouri Utilities, they moved to Scott City, where Barb cared for children in her home.

Loving survivors include her husband of 64 years, Marvin of Jackson; two daughters, Deborah (William) Kolodrubetz of Arlington, Virginia, and Karen Jo (Steve) Strong of Whitewater; a former son-in-law, Rick (Brenda) Stroer of Jackson; three grandchildren, Stacy, Brian and Nick; stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Stroer; four siblings, Elizabeth Campbell, Ralph, Chester and David Friedrich; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ.
