Barbara Louise Michelson, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at Ratcliff Care Center.

She was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Menfro, Missouri, to Hubert Harrison and Ruby Jewel Horn Clayton.

She and Marvin Glenn Michelson were married July 24, 1960, at Klemme, Iowa.

Barbara graduated from Klemme High School in 1960.

She received a degree as a licensed practical nurse in 1982 and earned her registered nurse certification in 1994. She worked at Fountainbleau Lodge as a nurse for over 20 years. She loved her family, embroidering, and listening to country and gospel music.

She attended Millersville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Steve (Donna) Michelson of Millersville, Clayton (Kim) Michelson of Innsbrook, Missouri, and Curtis (Mary) Michelson of Jackson; daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Mangels of Millersville; sister, Betty Nielson of Perryville, Missouri; along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles Clayton; and sister, Margaret Sides.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Jackson Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Jackson with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at Crossroads Methodist Cemetery in Bollinger County, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be given to Crossroads Methodist Church Cemetery.
