Barbara Jean Klein, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late Roy and Helen Worthington Blank.

She and Karl H. Klein were married Aug. 26, 1953, at Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 2017.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. She ran the kitchen at Elks Lodge in Cairo, among many other duties, which included volunteering a lot of her time. She was an avid reader and loved playing cards.

Survivors include sons, Kenny Klein of Mounds, Illinois, and Kevin (Mary) Klein of Cape Girardeau; daughter in heart, Julie Klein of Vienna, Illinois; grandchildren, Kelly Klein of Grand Chain, Illinois, Jared (Jessica) Klein of Dongola, Illinois, and Jacob Klein of Cape Girardeau; and great-grandchildren, Kagen Hill, Chase and Aria Klein.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Blank; mother, Helen Blank Walsh; brothers, Michael D. and William Walsh; and grandson, Jason Klein.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Monday, followed by Knights of Columbus Council 1111 rosary.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alan Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Illinois.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary's Cathedral or Chateau Girardeau.

Ford and Sons encourages everyone to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
