Barbara Herbert, daughter of the late Richard and Jane Tracy Burg, was born Oct. 25, 1940, in St. Louis and passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at her home, while receiving care from Saint Francis Hospice.

She and Dr. Charles Thomas Herbert Jr. were married 60 years and resided in Cape Girardeau.

Barbara graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts and Science from Memphis (Tennessee) State University. In her early adulthood, Tom and Barb enjoyed breeding, training and showing American Saddlebred horses. Later, she developed a great passion for traveling and the Metropolitan Opera. For many years, Barb hosted "Sunday Night at the Opera" and weekday "Afternoon Classics" at KRCU Radio Station.

Barb is survived by one sister, Patty Collins of Lexington, Kentucky.

Per Barb's wishes, no services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be given to KRCU through Southeast Missouri University Foundation, One University Plaza, MS 7300, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 or Saint Francis Medical Center Hospice, 211 St. Francis Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703.

Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service has assisted the family with arrangements.
