Barbara Jean Fornkohl, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Cape Girardeau to Elvis and Dola Claire Hanebrink Moore.

Barbara married her childhood sweetheart, Lester Fornkohl, on Jan. 23, 1950.

He preceded her in death April 17, 2014.

Barbara dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in taking care of the family home and preparing delicious meals for her family. She loved to can food from the garden that Lester grew for her. She also loved to grow beautiful flowers.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills.

Survivors include two sons, Eldon (Pat) Fornkohl and Kenneth (Sharon) Fornkohl of Cape Girardeau; brother, Jerry (Mary) Moore of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Alexia) Fornkohl, Jason D. Fornkohl, Justin (Betsy) Fornkohl, Aaron Fornkohl, Ryan Fornkohl, Jennifer Fornkohl and Crystal Fornkohl; and two great-stepgrandchildren, Hayley and Kaitlyn Stagg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a half-sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills, with the Rev. Barry L. Pfanstiel officiating.

Burial will be at Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Egypt Mills.

Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills or Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church.
