JACKSON -- Barbara Ann Brockett, 61, of Jackson, died Monday, June 10, 1996, at her home.
She was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Joseph and Mildred McKenley Schmidt. She and Thomas Eugene "Gene" Brockett were married July 28, 1956.
Brockett attended Advance High School, received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1971, a master's degree in secondary education, administration and supervision in 1985, and received a certificate in elementary administration and supervision in 1986.
She taught at Delta Schools 12 years, and at Meadow Heights Schools in Patton 12 years. She was senior class sponsor last year.
The Brocketts moved to Jackson in 1969 and purchased the former Fulenwider Drug Store. In 1971 they purchased Jones Drug Store, which they still operate.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lisa Gubbini of Tampa, Fla., Gina Phillips of Albany, Ga.; her mother, Mildred Willis of Wappapello, and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son and her father.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Hills Cemetery near Morley.
