ADVANCE -- Avery A. Jackson, 73, of Advance, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1993, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Oct. 2, 1920, at Gipsy, son of Andrew James and Minnie Lou Gilliland Jackson. He and Edna Young were married Dec. 24, 1940, at Marble Hill.
Jackson worked at Bussman Fuse Corp. in St. Louis 15 years. He was a member of Berrong General Baptist Church near Gipsy, and member of Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eugene Jackson of S. Roxana, Ill., Tom Jackson, Marble Hill Route 2; a daughter, Della Price of Advance; two brothers, Odes and Troy Jackson of Gipsy; two sisters, Lillie VanMatre of Marble Hill, Mildred Lemons of Madison, Ill.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Eldo Eaker and Tony Badami will officiate, with burial in Berrong Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today.
