Austin Allen Favier, 7, passed away peacefully Christmas morning ending his valiant struggle to defeat cancer. His gentle soul and pure heart were simply far too beautiful for this world.

He has returned to his home in Heaven and is now at play with the angels.

This very precious little boy was born in Cape Girardeau Aug. 3, 1995, to Layne A. Favier and Sonja "Nikee" Riggins. He attended kindergarten at Perryville Elementary School briefly in the fall of 2001.

Austin is lovingly and sadly missed by his parents; his little brother, Aaron; and a multitude of family and friends. He was the paternal grandson of Charryl and Mark Rudesill of Cape Girardeau, and maternal grandson of Sandra and Paul Riggins of Perryville, all of whom survive. His maternal great-grandparents are Dorothy Freeman of Piedmont, Mo., and Kenneth and Alma Riggins of Williamsville, Mo.

He joins in Heaven his paternal great-grandparents, Thomas and Shirley Favier, and maternal great-grandfather, Howard Freeman.

Austin was not the stepson of Chriss Taylor of Perryville as reported in earlier death notices. Chriss should have been correctly identified as friend and fiance of Nikee Riggins. They were married the day after Austin's passing.

The funeral service for Austin was Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Young and Sons Chapel in Perryville, with the Rev. Dennis Cebulak officiating. He was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.

The family prefers memorials be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or St. Louis Children's Hospital.
