Arthur L. Slagle, 88, of Austin, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002.
He was born in Gainesville, Texas.
Slagle lived in Cape Girardeau from 1920 to 1954, and had been a member of Maple United Methodist Church. He had also lived in Rogersville, Mo., and Alamo, Texas.
He was employed 30 years with Southwestern Bell in numerous capacities, retiring as a wire chief.
Slagle served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Mason many years.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Roth of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
