Arthur C. Kraemer, 88, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Sept 22, 2009, at his home.
He was born July 3, 1921, in Egypt Mills, son of Edwin O.H. and Mollie Farrow Kraemer. He and Lillie Davis were married Nov 27, 1947.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Bronze Star Medal.
Upon returning from active service, he was a machinery mechanic. He was employed by the Jackson School District at the bus garage from 1955 to 1970. In 1983 he retired from Procter & Gamble after 13 years of employment, where he was active with special projects and concepts that improved plant production.
Arthur loved farming and sharing with others and had a passion for building tractors. He custom-built the clock faces on the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse in Jackson. His special abilities allowed him to produce any mechanical part for virtually any machine. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lillie, of 61 years; two sons, Larry (Linda) Kraemer of Jackson, Garry (Mary Ella) Kraemer of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Cheryl (Terry) Tuschhoff of Jackson; six grandchildren, D'Ann (Gary) Jenkins, Jason Kraemer, Vicki (Rick) Ruebel, Natalie (Richard) Armstrong, Nathan (Sarah) Tuschhoff, Nicholas (Katherine) Tuschhoff; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Jenkins, Hannah Ruebel, Jacob Ruebel and Audrey Tuschhoff.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Otto Kraemer.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Brent Self officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mid-America Teen Challenge or Missouri Veterans Home.
