Arthur Leon Burchyett, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 25, 1929, at McClure, Ill., son of Raymond and Loretta Mae Jaynes Burchyett. He and Eva Le Key were married Jan. 5, 1952, in Osceola, Ark. She died Dec. 11, 1973. He and Madge Roloff McClard were married July 19, 1975, in Jackson.
Burchyett was storeroom supervisor 26 years at Marquette Cement Co. He was employed by Advance Security from 1986-91.
He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church. He was church treasurer from 1981-99 at Westminster Presbyterian Church and Evangelical Free Church.
Burchyett was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Rickey Burchyett of Seattle, Wash., Ronald Burchyett of Orlando, Fla., Bryan Burchyett and Brett McClard of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Ann Burchyett and Bethany Burchyett of Cape Girardeau, and Lisa Bertrand of Jacksonville, Texas.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. James A. Burchyett of Oxford, Ohio, Raymond "Bud" Burchyett of McClure, Ill.; a sister, Loretta DuRant of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; six grandchildren, Kasie Allen, Layla Allen, Megan Burchyett, Rachel Burchyett, Emmalea Burchyett and Jacob Burchyett, all of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
Pallbearers will be Steve Smith, Jack Mehner, James Coffey, Mike Rodgers, Doug Golden and Ted Coalter.
