Arnold Pulliam

Arnold Wilson Pulliam, 91, of Jackson passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 20, 1913, near Millersville, son of John and Fronie Looney Pulliam. He and Beulah James were married July 13, 1935. She passed away Sept. 8, 1991.

Arnold began his working career at the former Sawyer and LaPierre Handle Factory. He retired from the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson in 1975, and then worked at Lee Rowan for a short time. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Patsy Pulliam; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Carson Burns, all of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Sarah Ryan and husband John, Jeffery Pulliam and wife Beverly, Brenda Pender and husband Gary, Linda Crader and husband Kevin, Debby Lorenz and husband Curtis, Terri Moore and husband Jeff, all of Jackson, John Burns of Delta; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Jean Pulliam of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Marie Huckstep of Cape Girardeau, Mildred Fann and husband Alvin of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Glenda Cotner of St. Louis.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ella Faye Pulliam; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Pender and Vanessa Lorenz; two brothers, Frank and Virgil Pulliam; and a sister, Clola Fann.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ Gospel Church in Millersville.
