PERRYVILLE -- Arnold L. Meyer, 80, of Perryville, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Perryville, son of Joseph and Amalia Sauer Meyer. He and Sylvia Weber Geringer were married May 30, 1979.
Meyer was a retired assistant postmaster. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, member and past commander of American Legion Post 133, member of VFW Post 3553 in Chester, Ill., Holy Name Society, Western Catholic Union, and had served on the board of directors of Perry County Savings Bank. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Charles Geringer of Perryville; a brother, Lucius Meyer of Perryville, and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30-9:45 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 tonight, and American Legion wake at 7:15.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
