JACKSON -- Arnold Emanuel Schmidt, 80, of Jackson died Friday, Dec. 7, 1990 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 1, 1910 at Whittenberg, the son of Emanuel Schmidt and Bertha Mueller Schmidt.
On Oct. 30, 1937, he married Esther M. Lohmann in Altenburg. She survives.
Schmidt worked as an artificial inseminator of cattle.
He lived in Altenburg for 25 years where he belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church.
He moved to Jackson in 1963 and became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Lutheran Men's Club, greeter at church and a former member of the Lion's Club in Altenburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Allan Schmidt, Yarmouth, Maine, Stanley Schmidt, Longview, Texas; two daughters, Gerri Weber, Jackson, Judi Francis, St. Louis; three brothers, Richard Schmidt, Port St. Lucy, Fla., Rudy Schmidt, St. Louis, Herb Schmidt, Altenburg; one sister, Hildegarde Voss, St. Louis; one half-sister, Clara Schilling; 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one half-brother.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson today from 4-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lawrence Eatherton, officiating.
Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
