FROHNA, Mo. -- Arleen Schlichting, 78, of Frohna died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 24, 1932, at Farrar, Mo., daughter of Otto and Edna Roth Lohmann. She and Bernard "Barney" Schlichting were married Sept. 8, 1951, at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar.

Survivors include her husband; three sons and a daughter, Robert (Kathy) Schlichting, Charlotte (David) Seibel, Roger (Chris) Schlichting, all of Frohna, Alan (Tracey) Schlichting of Perryville, Mo.; a sister, Alice Hecht of Frohna; three brothers, Edward Lohmann of Farrar, Delbert Lohmann of St. Louis, Dennis Lohmann of Perryville; nine grandchildren, Kris and Kent Schlichting, Jeffrey Seibel, Dana Seabaugh, Renee Schaupert, Brian Schlichting, Sarah McQuay, Kirstin and Luke Schlichting; 12 great-grandchildren, Loren, Ross and Kate Schlichting, Alex, Paige and Grant Seibel, Caleb Seabaugh, Brandon, Logan, Ethan and Allison Schaupert, and Finley McQuay.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Kari Schlichting.

Schlichting was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, LWML and choir in Altenburg, Mo., American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Golden Agers, Altenburg Homemakers, Perry County Lutheran Historical Society, Lutheran Heritage Museum, East Perry County Lions Club, East Perry Community Fair and Roll-A-Way Square Dancers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Stites officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg or Saxony Lutheran High School.
