CAIRO, Ill. -- Anthony "Tony" J. Jordan, 35, of Cairo died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, in an automobile accident.
He was born July 31, 1968, in Cairo, son of Willis Clayton and Carolyn Woodson Jordan. He and Jody Sawyer were married Aug. 1, 1992.
Jordan had been a correctional officer at Tamms Correctional Facility for the last three years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, his parents of Brookport, Ill.; three sisters, Angela Smith of Metropolis, Ill., La Treasa Miller of Brookport, Chacone Mays of Paducah, Ky.; two brothers, Ray Jordan of Metropolis, Timothy Jordan of Brookport; and his maternal grandmother, Annie Mae Wright of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Bethel Temple Church of God in Christ in Mounds, Ill.
The funeral will be at noon Monday at the church with Carl Whitaker and the Rev. Carlton Berry officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mound City National Cemetery.
