Anna J. Steck, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 9:42 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at her daughter's home in Jackson.
Anna was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Galesburg, the daughter of Glenn and Geneva Ashley Lundeen. She married Roy E. Steck on April 25, 1948, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 2010.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Pat) Steck of Rio, Illinois; daughter, Nancy (Joe) Bishop of Jackson; brother, Fred (Pauline) Lundeen of Tequesta, Florida; sister, Judy Rylander of Oneida, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Dawn (Mike) Armstrong, Dustin (Wendi) Steck, Danielle (Adam) Cooley, Geneva (Chad) McAuley, Elizabeth Steck, Ben (Gina) Bishop, Josie Bishop, Molly (Justin) Brown and Anna (Clay) Blankenship; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Steck; three sisters, Dorothy Pitman, Eva Weber and Joyce Rednour; and brother, George Lundeen.
Anna worked as a technician for the former Galesburg Research Hospital until it closed. She then worked for Bridgeway. She graduated from London Mills High School in 1948.
Anna was a member of the First Church of God.
She had a love for baking, reading, canning and quilting with her daughter. Anna enjoyed meeting her friends at the Boxcar Express for lunch and to play cards.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 6 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel, with a brief service to follow with Chaplain Rocky Tallent officiating. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and face masks will be required.
Graveside service follow at noon at the Maquon Cemetery.
