Anna Mae Hood, 96, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Lexington, Ky., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1909, in Corbin, Ky., daughter of James and Minnie Austin Hood.
Hood taught second grade for more than 50 years, with 44 years of service to Fayette County schools. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Pilot Club and the Kentucky Teachers Association.
Survivors include a niece, Anne Purvis of Littleton, Colo.; and three nephews, Nathaniel Bowe of Memphis, Tenn., Ovid Johnson Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Dr. Dwight Johnson of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
A private visitation will be held at Millward's Funeral Home in Lexington.
A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lexington Cemetery.
