Anna G. Howenstein, 104, of Parma, Ohio, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, March 18, 1993, at Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
She was born Oct. 12, 1888, in Anna, Ill., daughter of Simon and Portia Piersol Cerny.
She married Edmund W. Howenstein on Feb. 29, 1916, in Anna. He preceded her in death March 5, 1960 in Cape Girardeau.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish of Parma, Ohio. She was former member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau and was in the Altar and Rosary Society 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Edmund W. Howenstein of Pensacola, Fla. and Michael Howenstein of Manchester, Mo.; three daughters, Catherine Seitz of Parma, Ohio, Irene Clonts of Troy, Mo., and Rose Marie Riley of O'Fallon; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie Howenstein, in 1986, two sisters and a brother.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau with Father Michael Zoellner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
