Anna Marie Buelow, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 9, 1932, in Cape Girardeau to Hilary A. and Philomena B. "Minnie" Jarosik Schmittzehe.

She and Marlin S. Buelow were married Oct. 24, 1963, at Gelnhausen, Germany.

Anna was a graduate of St. Mary's High School.

She was head cook at the old Saint Francis Hospital 17 years. She later worked at Saint Francis Medical Center in the surgical department for another 17 years. After retirement, she volunteered at the medical center.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband, Marlin Buelow of Cape Girardeau; three children, Mark (Gail) Buelow of Kearney, Missouri; Ann (Nicole Wayland) Buelow of O'Fallon, Missouri; and Kevin (Patricia) Buelow of Cape Girardeau; sister, Mary Catherine Orf of Ballwin, Missouri; brother, Jerome A. (Barbara) Schmittzehe of Cape Girardeau; brother-in-law, Alvin Low of Chicago; five grandchildren, Andrew (Emilie), Tyler, Madison, Katie and William Buelow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hilary F. (Marjorie/Mary) Schmittzehe and Donald (Wanda) Schmittzehe; sister, Dorothy J. Low; brother-in-law, Norbert Orf; and twin grandsons, Josh and Sam Buelow.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.

The family requests that masks be worn at all times.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
