HOUSTON, Texas -- Ann C. Nolan, 79, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Houston Northwest Medical Center. She was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Greensboro, N.C., daughter of Roy and Gertrude Smith Carpenter. She and F.R. Nolan were married Nov. 21, 1942, in Alexandria, Va., and he preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1988...

HOUSTON, Texas -- Ann C. Nolan, 79, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Houston Northwest Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Greensboro, N.C., daughter of Roy and Gertrude Smith Carpenter. She and F.R. Nolan were married Nov. 21, 1942, in Alexandria, Va., and he preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1988.

She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1950 and worked as a beautician and then as a sales clerk at Wal-Mart. She retired in March 1992 and moved to Houston to be with her granddaughter. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Michael Nolan, his wife Dolores and her granddaughter, Kristin Ann, all of Houston.

Friends may call Tuesday at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from noon until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park.
