Ann Garwood Stein of Summit, N.J., died Monday, March 8, 1993, at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
She was born Oct. 20, 1937, at Detroit, Mich., daughter of John and Catheryn Garwood. On Oct. 8, 1960, she married Paul Stein, whose family hails from Cape Girardeau, at Webster Groves.
She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit, and was a 1959 graduate of Washington University School of Business in St. Louis.
She was active in various community affairs in Summit, including the Girl Scouts Council, the Brayton School PTA, the Summit Speech School, the Reeves-Reid Arboretum, the Overlook Hospital Volunteers, and the Beacon Hill Club. From 1982-85, she was president of the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts. When a resident of St. Paul, Minn., she was president of the St. Paul North Oaks Nursery School and a member of the St. Paul Arts and Sciences Council.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her parents of Connecticut; a son, Paul Stein of College Station, Pa.; a daughter, Valerie Stein of New York. and a brother, Dr. Gary Garwood of Glastonbury, Conn.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau is in charge of local arrangements. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church. The Rev. Brant Hazlett will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
