J. Ann Campbell, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Carolina Medical Center-Pineville in Charlotte, N.C. J. Ann Campbell, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Carolina Medical Center-Pineville in Charlotte, N.C.

She was born March 23, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Joseph and Theresa Ann O'Brien Gartlan. She and Richard John Campbell Jr. were married Sept. 25, 1948, in Ridgefield Park, N.J.

Mrs. Campbell was a graduate of the College of Mount St. Vincent in New York City. She was an accountant 31 years with H&R Block. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, R.J. (Leigh Ann) Campbell III of St. Charles, Mo.; five daughters, Jo (Felix) Vickers of Pomfret Center, Conn., Beth (Rich) Buchanan of Matthews, N.C., Eileen (Lance) Brune of Charlotte, Diane (Tom) Howard of Cape Girardeau, Cathie (Ronnie) Larmie of Altoona, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a grandchild.

Friends may call at St. Vincent de Paul Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. A vigil service will be held at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
