Memorial service for Ann Abbott of Cape Girardeau will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Anyone who would like to provide memorabilia may do so.
Abbott, 68, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Vencor Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Sept. 29, 1928, at Kennett, daughter of Clyde Patrick and Frankie Steele Payne.
Abbott received a master's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1978. She taught at University High School in Cape Girardeau and at Delta C-7 in Deering.
She was a founder of ACT I, II, and III, an early community theater group in Cape Girardeau. She was involved with the group until retiring as director of Broadway Players in the late 1980s.
Abbott had worked for the American Heart Association, as well as volunteering for other organizations. She was a former member of First Christian Church, but had recently transferred membership to Evangelical United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Patrick Abbott of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jim Payne of Cape Girardeau; and two grandsons.
