Anita "Becky" Slinkard, 97, of Oak Ridge passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at her home.
She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Washington, D.C., daughter of Floyd and Lizzie Mastin. She married Howard John Burkley; later married Robert R. Spates, who preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1978; then married Hubert W. Slinkard, who preceded her in death in July 1999.
Anita had a passion for knitting, crocheting and bowling. She was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was awarded a lifetime membership in Esther Hannah Circle.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Burkley Davis Moyers of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren, Danny Davis of Oak Ridge, Cheryl (Brian) Reis of Spanaway, Wash., Russell (Crystal) Davis of Anniston, Ala., Lee Davis of Fruitland and Kenneth (Cynthia) Davis of Fort Worth, Texas; seven great-granddaughters; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara White of Dillwyn, Va.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Miller Mastin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Southeast Hospice.
