CHARLESTON - Angelo "Shug" Blanchard, 80, of Charleston, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 26, 1911, in West Point, Miss., son of Willie and Louisiana Blanchard. In 1935 he married Jessie Kate Heard, who died Sept. 18, 1988.
Blanchard was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and served on the church's usher board. He retired from French Implement Co. in Charleston, where he worked more than 40 years.
He is survived by sons Willie, Ulysses, James, and Melvin Blanchard, all of St. Louis, Mitchell Blanchard of Temple Hills, Md.; daughters Ruth Smith and Theresa Blanchard of St. Louis, Barbara Walker of Aurora, Colo., Ernestine Clark of Kansas City; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Charleston. The Rev. J.L. Posey will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
