DEXTER -- Amy Gretchen Edwards Stevens, 98, of Dexter died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center at Dexter.

She was born Sept. 20, 1901, at Poplar Bluff, daughter of William Valentine and Sara Moorman Edwards.

Stevens had lived in McLeansboro, Ill., and then spent many years in St. Louis before moving to Puxico five years ago. She had resided at Dexter the past two-and-a-half years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Greater St. Louis Shell Club, The French Society and was also a member of the Missouri Bar.

Survivors include a niece, Kathleen Hellings of Lake St. Louis.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Knights Prairie Cemetery near McLeansboro.

Watkins and Sons Funeral Service at Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
