Amos L. Patterson, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born March 7, 1906, in Lacey Springs, Ala., son of Henry and Minnie Lenox Patterson. He and Julia Peters were married Oct. 23, 1945, in Verviers, Belgium.

Formerly of Memphis, Tenn., Patterson worked at Goldsmith's Department Store and International Harvester of Memphis from 1950-74. He had also owned Ace Tool Co.

Patterson was a member and deacon at Crestview Christian Church in Memphis, member of United Auto Workers and the Buntyn Neighborhood Association.

He was a corporal in the 129th Ordnance Maintenance Battalion of the 7th Armored Division. He was a supply clerk and driver during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Patrick Patterson of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Lou Ella Cullipher of Memphis; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Memphis Memorial Gardens.
